Apple is an apple, easy to rot if left out too long. Android is a robot, it will not expire, but its hardware may need an upgrade.
In other words, both eventually give in. It matters more on the hardware than the software. I could have a Mac OS X 10.1 on the same hardware for years, but the first year is the best. Each subsequent year, performance is lost. I would need to upgrade the entire thing to have an upgraded hardware.
Windows, however, can run on almost any hardware, and you can upgrade the hardware at any time and allow yourself to keep the same OS for many years with no consequence.
Android is definitely one worth keeping as there are so many varieties of what you can do. A narrative is too simplified for what Apple devices can do, because there are much less options.
Some prefer strict Apple, others prefer loose Android. A few prefer moderate Microsoft, other prefer non-conformist.
