As far as Facebook goes, I think you're better off using the mobile version of the site - I've been doing that for years, and it's like my battery is twice as large now.
As for Messenger, I've given up on it almost completely on my phone, but I hear great things about this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hoahong.facebook.messenger
Ooh... I see, very useful. I honestly think it's nice having the Facebook type apps, but they are so high in space, use too many resources, etc. I will attempt to use that and hopefully report back soon on the progress. Thanks for your time!
If your device supports it, you can use Facebook Lite.
Otherwise, the Fast - Social App would be quite useful, or even Metal (Fb & Twitter).
Okay guys, thanks for all that... I'll look and see what I can do.
How did this work out for you? Did you actually get something that works? I been using the browser for most web apps instead of downloaded app.
+1 on using browser version of FB to save energy use; also has beneficial side effect of making you want to spend less time in FB
I didn't realize that FB was such a battery hog.
slehan It's crazy... You can tell how much it drains by installing a battery monitoring app. You won't believe your eyes!!!
It's not just the FB app, the Messenger one does it too.
Yep... Heavy apps cause heavy usage. Capable alternatives are better!
nougatmagnet Thank you... I will consider this and try to fix some things.
