Hey guys. I have a galaxy s7 and it seems like over the last few months the charge is holding less and less. On a full charge without using the phone at all, not even checking notifications it is dead in 6 hours. I am not sure what is going on. Is it a faulty battery? Can I fix this?
What background applications do you have running?
A lot of times this happens because of bloatware applications always running in the background. Some can be disabled or uninstalled so that is worth looking in to first.
yellowcricket I looked into this and even with everything turned off it is still an issue. It is not as bad but still not holding a charge like it should.
Do you charge your phone to 100% and then let it sit on charge? Or do you use the tap charge by chance?
techrabbit Plug and it sometimes sits when I am sleeping. Is that an issue with these phones? I thought all smart phones have a smart cell that tells them to stop accepting charge when they are full.
I agree with yellowcricket. A lot of times this is down to bloatware and the only way around this is to manually root your phone. If you do not know how to do this, you can pay to have it done.
princezelda Rooting a phone is one of the best options but if you are under contract and have insurance on your phone, it is not a good idea to do it because it voids insurance protection.
princezelda How do I root my phone? Is there like something I could actually do easily? I know you said not to do it but I am normally good when I watch a video or two on things like this.
Try shutting everything down/off. Like all running apps. Then reset the phone and let it drain out until it is completely dead. Charge it back up completely and then see how long it lasts. If it is a battery issue, nothing will be resolved.
