I have a spare phone that I was using mostly to control items around the house via infrared and wifi.
The sim's cradle became damaged when the micro holder was inserted without a card thus destroying the pins.
I deiced to put it back into service ( yeah I don't like the iPhone all that much) and installed a new sim cradle.
When I powered it back up (no sim card installed yet) it wouldn't boot past the Samsung logo. It was in use just before the new cradle was installed.
It doesn't matter if the older cradle is re-installed, same problem.
It will not enter safe mode. When I try for recovery it will stall on the Samsung logo with the blue recovery in the upper left.
I can enter download mode (Odin) and was able to flash the stock firmware (not the firmware that is listed within the links here, they would fail right off) using Odin 3.12.5.
Now the phone will shut off as soon as the Samsung logo appears. Can't enter recovery mode, again shuts down as soon as the logo appears. I can still enter download mode.
One thing I noticed now is that the home button no longer needs to be held down to enter download. Testing shows that the button is functioning 100% so I know it isn't stuck or defective.
Anyone have the similar problem with a solution?
Finding the correct firmware (or at least one that doesn't fail) is a bear for this model.
